Such as:
- Obtaining permission to use the song
To do this I had to contact the record company of the artist
who thankfully had a section of the website that allowed you
to contact them regarding the use of their music
- Researching locations to shoot the video
I did this by using Google Maps to find initial locations
and then I went on to look at them in my own time
as they are all local to me.
- The way in which music video is regulated, and the debates surrounding it
I researched this through the BBFC website, reading
their page on regulation as well as looking into
debates surrounding the subject in Newspapers
and online articles.
- The different types, and phases of music video
This was a task set to us in class. For this task
we looked at various music videos as well as
some of our choice. We identified the codes and
conventions of particular music videos to put them
into one or more of the three designated categories
- Research into similar texts to help me understand the product
This research into similar texts was looking
into songs by Danny Worsnop and Asking Alexandria
in my spare time to help me get a rough idea
of what the industry is producing as well as
how they tell the narrative of the song.
Doing such things, inside the classroom and outside of it have allowed me to progress further as a media professional.
