Moving Cars	3   Getting hit by a car could cause serious injury and trauma both directly to us, and indirectly to bystanders.	Always looking to cross the road before doing so and making sure to cross the road at a suitable place (crossing) rather than elsewhere.   Having a mobile phone to call an ambulance readily available.	2
Wet floor	2   A wet floor could result in it being slippy underfoot.   There could be mud which could ruin our clothes/costume.	To avoid injury we will wear suitable footwear for the terrain that we come across.   We will also take extra caution when walking up or down hills and on grass to avoid losing our footing.   To avoid ruining our clothing we will avoid mud where possible.	2
Stairs	2   We could fall up or downstairs, resulting in anything from minor bruising up to broken bones.	We will pay more attention when by stairs to avoid any potential injuries and not take part in any form of running/insensible activity around them.	2
Equipment	2   We could damage equipment by knocking it.   Equipment could get in the way, causing damage to us or the equipment.	To prevent equipment getting damaged we will handle it responsibly and not leave it lying around where it can stood on or kicked etc.   To prevent equipment getting in the way we will put it away at the first instance, instead of leaving it lying around. It will also not be placed in any locations where we will need to walk when not in use.	2
Wires	2   Wires pose a risk as they are a trip hazard. As well as this any damaged wires plugged into the mains could result in electrocution.	To not trip over wires they will all be taped down to the floor using tape.   We will also check all wires before use to make sure they are not damaged.	2
Cuts/grazes	1   Cuts and grazes are a minor risk because they are minor physical damage.	To prevent any cuts or grazes we will be sensible and not be silly with sharp objects.   If they occur we will treat them instantly (clean the wound and apply a plaster/bandage or if it is serious call an ambulance or go to the local minor injuries unit).	2
Getting hurt by props	1   The main prop is an electric guitar and if that hits one of us it could cause damage such as cuts/grazes or bruising.	To prevent being hit by the guitar we will behave sensibly with it, not swinging it around and carrying it properly at all times.	2
Weather	1   The weather contributes to other risks more than being a risk in itself. It contributes to the wet floor, damage of equipment, damage of wire and pretty much most of the risks presented.	To avoid/prevent injury surrounding the weather, we will only film outside when the weather is suitable and not when it is heavily raining or windy etc.	2

This employment agreement is effective immediately and details the working relationship that shall be held between you and I, Owen Clive, who will be creating a music video for my A2 Media Studies Coursework, and that you agree to everything written within.

 

Taking part within the production of this music video is voluntary based. It is a non-profit production thus resulting in no payments being promised or made to anyone affiliated with the production of said video.

 

I agree to work on the production from start to finish, fulfilling my role as an actor and demanding no payment in return for my services. I agree to an immediate start, filming on days only when I’m available as to not hinder my own education as well as to not work to any contracted hours, only when necessary and needed.

 

The period of the contract will run until the production is finished and you will have no notice period once the contract is terminated.

Task 9 - Casting - King Of Anything

For my production I only needed a single actor. This is to portray both the character in the narrative as well as the artist as they are meant to be the same person.

Therefore, I contacted a friend of mine who is doing A Levels in acting at Birmingham Ormiston Academy to see if they were interested and thankfully they were. This means I have successfully filled all possible roles and cast members for my production.

The channel best suited to broadcast this music video would be K! TV. This is because this is the TV channel for the radio station Kerrang! who owns multiple subsidiary radio channels. They are the biggest rock and metal broadcasters in Britain. It'd be something that they could broadcast at any time of the day as it is an easy going song.

The target audience for my song has already been discussed in my 'Task 4 - Target Audience - Gone' blog post but will quote it below nevertheless.

My target audience, according to the descriptors set out by Young and Rubicam, are strugglers. They are alienated from society and have limited skills away from physicality. A lot of their expenditure goes towards alcohol, junk food and music related clothing, by this I mean band t-shirts as stereotypically these kinds of people wear nothing but band shirts and wristbands. They will usually wear skinny, black jeans accompanied by shoes such as Vans and Nike. A lot of the time they will dye their hair black and the females in the audience will use make up to take on a pale complexion but they'll use exaggerated eye liner.

When looking at Mosaic's descriptors, the audience fits into the, O65 and O66 categories. A lot of the time they are young students, often going to university which can explain why they fit into the 'struggler' descriptor. These students who are struggling for money are the ones from the O65 and O66 categories. They often have an issue with the world and take on more liberal views, and when it comes to elections they'll usually vote for Labour or the Liberal Democrats or not vote at all. When it comes to food, they'll be purchasing non-perishable food from places such as Aldi and Lidl due to how cheap it is. They'll be eating things like Pot Noodles and Super Noodles a lot of the time. They will however spend more money on things like energy drinks than they can really afford, buying lots of Monster energy and Redbull. When they eat out it'll be at extremely cheap places that often offer 2 for 1 meal deals and their diet in general will not be very good. They will also not have the money to go on expensive holidays, they're more likely to take up on one of the cheap holidays that the Sun newspaper offers. If they have a car it'll be second or even third hand and it will most likely be 2 door with atleast 60,000 miles on the clock. They will be using 'Daz' washing powder as it is cheap and other, higher end, products are out of their price range."

The video will be a combination of performance and narrative. It fits into it this category as it will tell a story whilst cutting sporadically to the artist singing the song at the same time. This will make it look professional as most music videos today are a combination of the two, this is to convey the meaning of the song to the audience whilst keeping them engaged with performance scenes.

Creative Journey - Entry 4

Recently, I have managed to make a lot of progress both in school and at home researching and working in my own time. I covered:

• Role Allocation
• Storyboards
• Locations

Role Allocation

Role allocation was abnormally easy for me due to working on my own, it meant that every role besides acting was distributed to me. However, to gain a bit of extra knowledge I looked into Auteurism in my own time to get a better understanding on how people work solo in the industry.


Storyboards

For my storyboards I found a program website online called 'Storyboardthat.com'. It essentially allowed me to use cartoon characters, props and backgrounds to design a storyboard for my music video. I thought this was a great idea as I was using technology to develop a clearer storyboard that was quicker than drawing it by hand. Therefore I developed a 12 panel story board detailing the music video.


Locations

My locations research was easier and quicker than expected. Because I was filming in an area that I live in and travel around I knew exactly where I wanted to film. I had previously discussed with my actor as to whether we could film inside his home and he kindly agreed thus giving me one of my locations. The second location is simply over the road from his house as we both know that it has the look that I desire.


To obtain images of these locations I simply had to go onto Google Maps and screenshot the locations rather than the traditional method of venturing out to find locations with a handheld camera.

Task 7 - Role Allocation - King Of Anything

As I decided to take this project up on my own, and work without a group, I will take on every role involved in the production of my Music Video. This will entail me being a director, writer, camera person, editor and researcher, thus making me an 'Auteur'.

The only other role I needed to fill therefore was an actor. As I mentioned in my previous post, regarding the first music video I made (King of Anything), a friend of mine who studies at Birmingham Ormiston Academy volunteered to take up the role. His role will require him to play the character in the narrative sequences as well as the performance ones as they are meant to be the same person.

Auteurism:

An Auteur is someone who oversees so much of the production of a media product, they become the Author. Auteurism started in France during the late 1940s as one of many cinematic theories created by Andre Bazin and Alexander Astruc, later being called 'Auteur Theory' by american film critic Andrew Sarris.
